The Right Steps On How To Apply Skincare.

As we age, so does our skin and the best we can do to keep it looking healthy and young is to have a regular skincare routine and applying your products in the right order. Now the big question is: Do you apply your skincare in the right order?

The first step in your skincare routine is to cleanse. Whether in the form of a balm, gel or oil base, cleansing is a necessary step you should do daily. Cleansing your skin takes away all the impurities and radicals that settles on your skin. It is also advisable to cleanse your skin whether you had makeup on or not.

The second step is to Tone and this can be done simultaneously with an essence or you can switch one for the other. If however you want to incorporate both in your routine, a toner should come first before an essence. Toning helps balance the PH level of your skin and also nourish and replenish the skin after cleansing while acting as a primer for the rest of your skincare products. While you let those work on your skin, quickly apply your lip balm or mask.

KEY STEPS-CLEANSE, TONE, TREAT AND PROTECT.

The third step in your skincare routine is to treat, which is using any serum of your choice. They are collagen boosters, nourishes and soothes, while hydrating your skin. Next step is applying your eye serum, and be gentle while doing that, as the eye area is delicate. The fifth step in your skincare routine is applying a facial oil, which can be used alongside a gua sha or jade roller to help with blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and muscle relaxation.

The next step in your skincare routine will be to moisturise your skin and finally protect your skin by applying a sunscreen! Never forget to apply one as this is a crucial step compared to an essence or facial oil. You definitely want to protect your skin from the UV rays which causes hyperpigmentation, sun damage, skin cancer and ageing.

Key points to note when applying your skincare products, is to apply from thinnest to thickest, liquid to cream and finally oils. Give at least 30 seconds to 2 minutes for each product to absorb into your skin and remember to relax while you work your way down to your neck and décolletage.
