What Are The Three Most Important Skincare Ingredients?

the three most important ingredients to have in your skincare product is Hyaluronic Acid, vitamin C and Niacinamide.

What your skincare contains, is more important than the price. With the beauty industry continuously growing, it is important to not just only go on a viral product shopping spree, but also take some time to know what these products contain and if they suit your skincare needs.

Choosing skincare products basically depends on your skin type. Is your skin dry, oily, or combination? Whether you fall into any or non of these, there are some important ingredients that your skincare must contain and in this post, I will be listing three of them.

three important ingredients in skincare products

Hyaluronic Acid.

At the top of my list is Hyaluronic Acid which is a skincare ingredient must have. If you pay attention closely, you must have seen it on one of your skincare products. Hyaluronic Acid or sometimes called HA, is a water binding molecule found in the skin, which helps retain moisture, making it one of the most effective ingredients for hydrating and plumping the skin. There is a misconception that it is for only dry skin but it is suitable for all skin types.

As we age, skin cells deplete, so does the Hyaluronic Acid content decrease as well. That is why we need it to restore lost hydration, create a protective barrier, improve skin’s texture, plump up fine line and wrinkles.

vitamin C.

Vitamin C is the next most important ingredient to have in your skincare products. It is a potent ingredient that works great for all skin types. You can absorb it or apply it topically in the case of skincare products. It is also an antioxidant which is anti inflammatory. It is a safe ingredient which can be used with other actives such as SPF, Retinol and AHA.

I make sure to always have a Vitamin C infused product in my collection. It can be in any serum of your choice, toners or moisturizers. Benefits of using a Vitamin C product includes; it’s hydrating, it promotes collagen production just like retinol, it fades hyperpigmentation which 95% of people have, it’s brightening, it helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Niacinamide.

This is one ingredient I came to know about in the last two years and now my eyes pop at any skincare product that contains Niacinamide. It is a gentle ingredient that works for all skin types. While it may have the same benefits like Vitamin C, there is a slight difference because it keeps your skin moisturized and Vitamin C hydrates. It helps to target skin concerns such as discoloration, redness, minimizing the appearance of pores and reducing acne breakouts.

Hyaluronic Acid, vitamin C and Niacinamide and the most important ingredients to have in skincare products. They help with hyperpigmentation, discoloration, fine lines, hydrated and smooth skin.

Since introducing niacinamide and vitamin C to my daily routine, I have had less to no breakouts. If at all I see a breakout, it goes away in two days and looks a lot better in size compared to past times. My skin tone also looks more even and discolorations I had, have been minimized.

It doesn’t matter what the price or brand you go with, always ensure these three ingredients are in the skincare products you use daily. The most important thing to note is your skin type and what works for you.
